The family came to America in 1832, landing at Baltimore. From there it is thought the entire family went to Lancaster, PA, and on to Ohio in 1836. There were ten children in all, although a maximum of six may have been alive to make the trip to America. No one is yet sure whether Magdalena came over with the rest of the family, and no information has yet been found of Katherina.
