ROBERT L. "BOB" SHAW
Robert L. "Bob" Shaw, 83, of Haines City, Fla., and formerly of
Marysville died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Good Shepherd Hospice in
Auburndale, Fla.
A 1940 graduate of Marysville High School, he retired after 31 years as
a truck driver where he transported for local industry and delivered
freight throughout Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. An accomplished
tenor banjo player since he was 9 years old, he also enjoyed the guitar,
motorcycles, trapshooting, playing pool, ballroom dancing, horseshoe
pitching and tinkering with small restoration jobs.
Last year, he became a permanent resident of Polk County, Fla., after
wintering there with his wife for several years. In Florida, he was a
member of the dixieland group, the Polk County Plunkers and the
Heartlanders County Band. For many years, he was a member of the Windsor
and Community Seniors and played with the local band, the Late Bloomers.
A longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he was a member of Lamb of
God Lutheran Church in Haines City. He was a charter member of Heart of
Ohio Motorcycle Club and the Marysville Moose and Eagles lodges.
He was born Dec. 9, 1920, in Marysville to the late Floyd L. and Urcil
M. Hamilton Shaw. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Margena L.
Streng Harriman Shaw, whom he married March 31, 1990, at the Marysville
Congregational Church; four children, Jeff (Jill) Harriman and Sheila
(Bill) Green of Marysville, Dr. Robert (Bette) Harriman of Pensacola
Beach, Fla. and Linda L. (Jim) Raymond of Apollo Beach, Fla.; two
sisters-in-law, Kathleen Streng and Maria Streng, both of Marysville;
eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Underwood Funeral
Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 5 p .m.TheRev.
Carl Roepcke will officiate and burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at
Oakdale Cemetery.
